Innovative Tool and Die Manager with 20+ years of experience in supporting OEMs and Tier 1 manufacturing operations. His industry experience includes automotive, HVAC, and consumer fixtures. He has created tool & die shops from scratch for companies like Tesla, and Goodman Manufacturing. His skills encompass all disciplines of tool design, build, preventative maintenance, die construction (progressive, transfer, deep draw, blanking, Fine blanking etc.), gage development, and build.
He has supported machining and die-casting operations as well. He has an impressive track record of achieving time and cost-saving initiatives through design and production phases. He is highly skilled in providing the technical direction for the design of new and existing tooling with a very high success rate of sustaining disruption-free production. This Game Changer has the ability to provide ideas and solutions for continuous process improvements in quality, efficiency, costs, safety, and delivery. • Utilizing Maximo PM program for the maintenance group.
• Working with engineering group on design changes.
• Working on the development and proving out new dies and launching of the new plant.
• Troubleshooting new dies and make engineering changes to the dies as needed to improve performance of the dies.
• PM dies for production
• Direct Tool & Die makers, both in the die shop and on the press room floor. (This is a UAW union shop)
• I direct all scheduling, repairs, preventive maintenance, and engineering changes.
• We direct all maintenance utilizing a TMS PM/Repair system.
• The Die shop has both CNC Machine capabilities along with Manual Mills, Surface Grinders, and Lathes. etc.
• Directed Tool and die shops and a State-of-the-art CNC Machine Shop utilizing Mastercam software.
• The CNC Machine shop had annual cost savings of $13M in support of the stamping plants.
• Create and write a successful PM program for all dies.
• Directed a staff of 6 skilled tradesmen while maintaining all tooling and dies to support the production schedules
• Manufacturing of tooling and new dies with CNC Mills utilizing Mastercam software.
• Developed procedure reducing die change over time by an average of 15 minutes resulting in annual savings in excess of $300,000
• Project Manager for QDC clamping achieving an 8-minute reduction per die set up
• Delivered more than 160 new dies valued at over $65 million on schedule, 100% to specification and under budget
• Integrated over $1.5 million in cost savings in 2006 with thorough cost analysis and re-designing tactics utilizing automated tooling requiring less manpower and equipment
• Built and launched a $1.1M state-of-the-art tool and die department saving approximately $1M a year in outsourcing making our own dies & die details in house utilizing our CNC Mills, Wire EDMs, Grinders etc. We utilized Mastercam software with programming.
• Expanded tool and die department by acquiring key equipment necessary to return $312,000.00 annually of outsourced work
