Chemical Process Engineer (140501) Green Belt / Biofuels, Chemical, & Power Projects /

Diversely experienced Chemical Engineer with 20+ years of experience. He is a Six Sigma Green Belt who is skilled in continuous and batch chemical processes, as well as, thermal, mechanical, chemical, and combustion processes.

He has worked safely worked around multiple hazardous materials including H2 gas, syngas, fission product gases, NH4OH, NaOH, HCl (including anhydrous), paper pulping liquors and boiler chemistry chemicals. He is proficient in ASME, API, NFPA, and other RAGAGEPs. Brian is more than capable of delivering individual or team contributions to process/project/PSM deliverables. He is currently employed as a Consultant but is interested in finding a permanent role. He is willing to relocate from his South Carolina location. His impressive experience includes:

• Experienced with process safety, reliability, and efficiency, in that order.
• Solved throughput issues with batch hydrolysis reactors
• Commissioned organic solvent extraction columns
• Oversaw 6 company and third-party engineers and 10 contractors
• As area supervisor for the power center, lime kiln, and water works, oversaw 35 operators and was responsible for all aspects of daily production, coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance, and planning outages with a heavy contribution to capital project oversight.
• Experience using and upgrading the Emerson DeltaV control system.
• Limekiln produces up to 388 tons/day of lime-burning gas, oil or petcoke solid fuel and provides white liquor to support pulp/paper mill operations.
• Operations saw a substantial improvement with increased reliability and performance with reduced variability.
• Supervised water works facility producing 25-26 million gallons/day of potable, deionized, and filtered process water using 2 settling basins and an up-flow clarifier to support mill operations and nearby municipalities.
• Responsible for all aspects of boiler operations, including system P&IDs, natural gas distribution, burner management including PLCs, transducers, and transmitters related to the implementation of a new state-of-the-art Foundation Fieldbus digital control system.
• Development of biomass-based chemical and power projects
• Develop clean power projects using waste wood in the Pacific NW
