Instrumentation Controls Engineer (128565) BSEE / Chemicals, Refinery, Paper Mills, Powerplant, Food, Cement, Water Treatment /

Instrumentation, and Controls Engineer with 20+ years of experience supporting chemical, refinery, powerplant, paper mills, food plants, and cement operations. He is a BSEE and has a bachelor’s in computer information systems. He is practiced in multiple programming and industry software programs as well as hardware brands of PLCs, HMIs, meters, instrumentation, and control valves. He has done greenfield plant projects from specification to installation and commissioning. He is currently employed in a remote position but is interested in confidentially exploring new opportunities as he misses working onsite.

He is based in the Atlanta area but could be coaxed to a location that is close to a beach along the Gulf Coast or Florida. His technical acumen, education, broad application and equipment skills, and multi-industry experience make him a highly versatile automation industry expert that is rare to find. • Applications have included chemical plants, pulp and paper mills, combined and simple cycle power plants (fossil), petroleum refineries, cement plants, as well as food and beverage plants.
• Lead discipline engineer for individual projects (instrumentation and controls).
• Instrumentation specification, loop sheets, P&ID’s, interconnect wiring, control panel design, MCC layouts, load calculations, circuit protection, motor starter circuit design, etc.
• Extensive checking of engineers’ and designers’ work, both instrumentation and electrical.
• Coordination of efforts with other related disciplines such as piping, process and electrical.
• Database-oriented specification applications (SmartPlant Instrumentation, COMOS, Aveva).
• Thorough knowledge of NEC and NFPA codes.
• Field checkout, troubleshooting and startup.
• Control systems I/O layout (DCS, PLC) and programming of Allen-Bradley PLC-5’s.
• Very strong technical writing skills, which are both clear and concise.
• Vendor bid review/evaluation.
• Estimating and scheduling of project execution, as well as scope of work.
• Excellent team working, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
