Automation-Controls Engineer (206968) Automotive, Chemical, Power Plant

He is a highly experienced Controls/Automation Engineer with 20+ years of experience supporting multiple manufacturing industries and power plant operations. He is a highly skilled programmer, troubleshooter, and problem solver. He can do it all, start to finish, with control systems design, project management, installation, or upgrading existing equipment to improve processes and performance!

He is skilled in many types of automation hardware and software. This game-changing talent is a “find a way. Make a way” automation engineer who gets things done.

• Manage and maintain automation equipment at the plant including upgrades and capital projects.
• Provides expertise to technicians and operators in troubleshooting issues.
• PLC programming and distributed network development, as necessary.
• Lead role in the project to convert existing software written in TIA Portal V 14 for control of twin power induction furnace controls over to Compact Logix L30ER RS Logix5000 software.
• Responsible for Changes to AutoCAD electrical drawings and software.
• Duties included the development of hardware and software solutions for InfraRed Ovens typical of 200kW to 50 MW systems largely used in the glass industry.
• Concurrently, upgraded HMI from Beijer Electronic panel to Siemens KP1200 comfort panel. I was responsible for all programming. In addition, designed a control panel and generated the PLC code used for AB Compact Logix and Siemens S7-400
• Provide vision expertise at a SME level for serialization, track and trace implementation on their Packaging lines using the Optel Vision suitable with LineMaster and PharmaProof
• Project lead for automation improvements at several assignments;
• Managed to replace the SLC 5/05 and DH +main PLC controller for Boilers, Control Room, Chillers, and Cooling Tower with an AB ControlLogix main PLC and Ethernet
• My duties included PLC programming, HMI screen development, and automatic storage and retrieval.
• Responsible for corporate-wide digital procedures which controlled design changes at plants from cradle to grave.
• Expanded SAP to interface with CMMS for linking control system and maintenance management system to create maintenance messages automatically from control system data reducing the amount of time required for record-keeping
• Developed software design documents, electrical maintenance plans, and electrical reliability programs to minimize the risk of equipment failure.
• Field Devices included AB PLCs or Siemens PLCs and others.
• Advanced skills in the hardware configuration of medium voltage drives specialized in programming the Siemens STEP 7 PLC software for S7-300 and S7-400 series using both in ladder logic and STL methods.

  • Siemens Industry: TIA Portal, V14 and V15; Wincc Advanced, Step 7 300 and 400 PLC s, (7 Years )
